Hurricane season is just around the corner and your clients need to be thinking about flood insurance. The season officially starts on June 1 and most flood insurance policies have a 30-day waiting period before they become active, which means homeowners need to buy a National Flood Insurance Program policy as soon as possible to be prepared.
Note: If you buy flood insurance in connection with a real estate purchase where you are taking out a new mortgage or you are refinancing an existing mortgage, there is no waiting period.
